How A/C diagnosis works
Most A/C problems come down to one of three things:
- Low refrigerant (system has a leak somewhere)
- Failed component (compressor, condenser, expansion valve)
- Electrical (relay, pressure switch, control module)
We don’t just blast in refrigerant and send you on your way. We add dye, find the leak, and fix the cause. Otherwise you’re back in a month with the same problem.
Signs your A/C needs service
- Air blows warm or only slightly cool
- A/C works for a few minutes, then warm
- Strange smells (musty, sweet, chemical) from vents
- Weak airflow at any temperature
- Loud noises when A/C is on
- Visible condensation under the dashboard
Heat problems
If your car blows cold air in winter, the problem is usually one of:
- Low coolant
- Stuck thermostat
- Heater core blockage or leak
- Failed blend door actuator
- Bad heater control valve
We diagnose all of these. Heater core jobs can be labor-intensive on some vehicles (the dashboard has to come out) — we’ll quote it straight before starting.
What you’ll pay
- A/C performance check & diagnosis: $79 (waived if you do the repair)
- Recharge (R-134a): typically $150–$220
- Recharge (R-1234yf, newer cars): typically $300–$450
- Compressor replacement: typically $700–$1,400 depending on vehicle
Get your A/C fixed before the next heat wave.
